Recent dinner highlights importance of giving to NAE.
On October 16, 2011, Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (Ret.) hosted 50 of the National Academy of Engineering’s donors at the Supreme Court for the annual Golden Bridge Society Dinner.
The dinner is held once a year to thank members of the NAE’s cumulative giving societies, which include the Golden Bridge, Einstein and Heritage. Justice O’Connor began the evening by welcoming guests in the main Courtroom, talking briefly about the impressive architecture of the room and then opening the floor for questions, most of which involved the proceedings of the United States Supreme Court.

Also during dinner, Dr. Vest presented NAE Council Member, Dr. Paul R. Gray, with his newly earned Einstein Statuette, recognizing his contribution of more than $100,000 to the NAE. While accepting the statue, Dr. Gray spoke about the importance of philanthropy to the NAE and encouraged other donors to continue their support of the institution. |
