2010 Annual Meeting and Registration Information. October 3-4, 2010 in Washington D.C.

The NAE 2010 Annual Meeting will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel, Washington DC. and the Keck Center of the National Academies while the NAS Building is closed for restoration. 

Highlights:

Saturday, October 2, Orientation for the Class of 2010 at the Keck Center.

Sunday, October 3, the program will begin with a brunch at the JW Marriott Hotel. The public program will open with remarks by NAE Chair Irwin M. Jacobs, followed by the President’s address, and then the Induction Ceremony for the 68 members and 9 foreign associates who were elected in February 2010. The public program will continue with a recognition of the recipients of the Academy’s Founders and Bueche Awards. After a short break, the afternoon program will continue with the NAE’s Armstrong Endowment for Young Engineers – Gilbreth Lectures. The program will conclude with remarks by John Holdren, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (invited) and Narayana N.R. Murthy, co-Founder and Chairman of Infosys.

Monday, October 4, the NAE Business Session will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel, which will be followed by the Forum on Global Technology: Change and Implications (Open to the public; pre-registration required). After lunch, the afternoon will be devoted to section meetings at the Keck Center.  The Membership Office has planned for guests accompanying NAE Members a VIP tour of Mount Vernon, the home of our country’s first president and wife, George and Martha Washington. Participants will tour the Mansion house and more than a dozen outbuildings including the slave quarters, kitchen, stables, and greenhouse. The day will conclude with the traditional reception and dinner dance, which will be held at the JW Marriott Hotel. The entertainment this year is the Odyssey Band. Chosen to perform at many of the area’s most prestigious events, the band provides a tasteful mix of music and will provide dance music until midnight.
