Research Foci:

WST research links issues in the study of science and technology with those of gender, culture, and society. The overarching research question is what is the relationship between gender and science and technology in culture and society?

Specific research topics of the WST Center faculty include:

  • Careers of women in science and technological fields
  • Cultural representations of gender, science, and technology
  • Educational processes affecting outcomes for women in science and engineering
  • Gender, computing, and information technology
  • Gender orientation in adult development
  • Historical and contemporary studies of women, architecture, and design
  • Inequalities by gender and race on a global scale
  • Studies of risk in science and medicine
