Research Foci:
Our department uses a multidisiciplinary/transdisciplinary approach in conducting research involving a wide range of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) educational issues. Our technology assessment / technologies studies approach starts with issues and from the outset treats them in an integrated "trans-disciplinary" fashion. Currently, this Science, Technology and Society (STS) approach is being used to address fundamental questions in a variety of areas:
- Technology assessment of advanced and emerging technologies;
- Planning and managing educational technologies;
- Advanced technologies in STEM education;
- Distance learning;
- Innovative approaches to human-computer interfaces;
- Use of wireless technologies in education; and
- Participation of underrepresented minorities, women, and persons with disabilities in STEM education and careers.
