Challenges in Engineering Education:
The challenges in engineering education, most compelling to WEPAN include the following:
- Developing and integrating relevant examples to teach engineering principles to increase awareness, interest, learning, and retention in engineering.
- Increasing data-driven knowledge regarding why women are attracted to specific engineering disciplines (e.g. chemical, biomedical, environmental) and are markedly less interested in other disciplines (e.g. mechanical and electrical).
- Improving pedagogy in engineering gatekeeper courses.
