Manufacturing Is Cool!
Information on colleges, engineering camps for students, facility tours, scholarships, and classroom resources are available on this site, which focuses on careers and opportunities in manufacturing. This site is hosted by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Mars Millenium Project
This project challenges students in grades K-12 to design a community for the planet Mars. Working in teams with educators, community leaders and professionals in many fields students combine learning in arts, sciences, and humanities into an exploration of their own communities. This website contains some resource links and a PDF guide for project participants.
Middle School Science and Technology
The Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) Middle School Science and Technology curriculum materials incorporate technology and concepts important for technological literacy. Materials cover principles of design, cost-and-benefit and systems analysis, and complexity into technological problems.
National Council for History Education
The National Council for History Education is a non-profit corporation promoting the importance of history in schools and in society. NCHE links provide a communications network for all advocates of history education. Their website includes education resources, history links, and a monthly newletter, History Matters!
National Council for the Social Studies
National Council for the Social Studies provides leadership, service, and support for all social studies educators. This website provides Internet links, teaching resources, a newletter for professionals including updates on legislative matters.
National Engineers Week
Held each February, National Engineers Week helps increase public awareness and appreciation of the engineering profession. The website has information and resources for students, engineers, K-12 teachers, and media.
National Science Resources Center
The National Science Resources Center (NSRC), operated jointly by the National Academies and the Smithsonian Institution, is dedicated to improving the teaching of science. NSRC is a clearinghouse for information about exemplary teaching resources and develops and disseminates science curriculum materials for elementary classrooms. The center also sponsors outreach activities to help school districts develop and sustain hands-on science programs.
NASA Education Programs
Like several other organizations and government agencies, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) supports education programs relating to technology. This website is a comprehensive list of NASA's education programs.
NYT Learning Network
Lesson plans and resources for teachers, students, and others on various issues including technology, science, and health. Website is maintained with stories and resources from the New York Times and the Learning Network.
Occupational Outlook Handbook
Produced by the Department of Labor, this website provides data and information on many careers tracked by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This page lists several professional careers including different engineering and technology related occupations.
