The overarching mission of the Center for Engineering, Ethics, and Society (CEES) is to bring ethical and societal challenges of engineering to the attention of the engineering profession and to promote discussion and understanding of these issues in the engineering community. CEES began operation in spring 2007, launched with a gift from NAE member Harry E. Bovay, Jr. CEES manages the Online Ethics Center for Engineering and Research at the NAE.
