2009 Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize

In 2007, for his innovations in the characterization and modeling of human tissue dynamics leading to the prevention and mitigation of trauma, Dr. Yuan-Cheng B. Fung was awarded the National Academy of Engineering’s Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ Prize, given to the engineer whose work has significantly impacted society and has contributed to the advancement of the human condition through widespread use. Currently, the Russ Prize recognizes achievement in bioengineering.
