JOSÉ B. CRUZ JR.
José B. Cruz Jr. is the Howard D. Winbigler Chair in Engineering and Professor of Electrical Engineering at Ohio State University. From 1992 to 1997, Cruz served as Dean of Engineering at Ohio State. He is also the Secretary of the Section on Engineering for the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Cruz was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in 1980. He is the recipient of the Richard E. Bellman Control Heritage Award, American Automatic Control Council , 1994 (AACC) and is a Fellow at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), elected 1968. As a member of the NAE, Cruz serves on the Peer Committee on Electronics Engineering, Committee on Diversity in the Engineering Workforce and has served on the Academic Advisory Board, 1994-1997. Cruz has published several articles in scholarly journals and has edited and co-authored numerous books about electrical engineering. Cruz received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana, IL,his S.M. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Cambridge, MA and his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude from the University of the Philippines.
