Andrew Gillen is a senior researcher in the Education program at American Institutes for Research. His research has addressed numerous issues in higher education, including college affordability, financial aid, the economics of higher education, transparency, accountability, and accreditation. He also teaches economics as an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins University and is a committee member of the Advisory Committee on Student Financial Assistance, which provides guidance on improving financial aid to Congress and the Department of Education. Prior to joining AIR, Gillen held a variety of positions at education policy groups such as Education Sector and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity. He received a Bachelor in Business Administration from Ohio University and a Ph.D. in economics from Florida State University.
