Michael McKenzie is the new Managing Director, Career Learning & Experience at The George Washington University. He provides strategic direction for the career coaching team, and oversees the development, delivery and evaluation of ongoing career education initiatives. He comes to GW with a background in program management, curriculum development, and intercultural communication. He recently returned from two years working at ADA University in Baku, Azerbaijan where he coached masters-level students and created curriculum for leadership and professional skills programs. He also designed advanced presentation skills, effective communication, and teamwork seminars for executive MBA students and corporate clients including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, and BP. Previously, Michael spent eight years at Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies, in Washington, DC where he managed their career programs and coaching team, and taught public speaking and professional communication seminars. He worked closely with a diverse range of public, private and non-profit employers ranging from International Oil Companies to U.S. government agencies to Bay-Area start-ups. He has a dual Master of Arts in International & Intercultural Communication and Higher Education from the University of Denver, and a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of North Dakota.
