James D. Basham, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Kansas. He is also the cofounder and CEO of the Universal Design for Learning Implementation and Research Network (UDL-IRN). Dr. Basham’s research is focused on learner-centered design, innovation, and technology as it relates to cognition, learning, and behavior. He is well published and has served as a consultant for school districts, universities, state agencies, foundations, and corporate entities on design of modern learning environments, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), school reform, technology-enabled personalization, and Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM). Dr. Basham serves on editorial boards for various journals, has recently guest-edited journals on STEM education and Online Learning for individuals with diverse learning needs. He recently served on the Technical Work Group for the current National Educational Technology Plan (NETP).
