Kenneth Welty is a Professor in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Stout where he teaches curriculum, methods, and assessment for the science and technology education programs. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Illinois State University and earned his PhD from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana. Prior to joining the faculty at UW-Stout, he was a Visiting Professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois, a Research Associate at Illinois State University, and a technology teacher at Central Catholic High School in Bloomington, Illinois. His professional activities have included directing several curriculum projects for the State of Illinois, working with public schools to enhance their technology education programs, serving as a curriculum consultant for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and evaluating the treatment of engineering principles and ways of thinking in STEM curricula for the National Academy of Engineering.
