At-a-Glance
Series of global summits for leading scientists and engineers, educators, policy leaders, students, and the public to address grand challenges.
Objectives
  • This is a series of global conferences that bring together engineers, entrepreneurs, policy makers, students, and the public around the world to address the NAE's Grand Challenges for Engineering.

The Global Grand Challenges Summits (GGCS) are a series of conferences organized by the U.S. National Academy of Engineering (NAE), the U.K. Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE), and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

The Global Grand Challenges Summits are based on The National Academy of Engineering's Grand Challenges for Engineering and aim to spark global collaborations that lead to innovative ways of addressing critically important engineering challenges and opportunities and inspiring the next generation of change makers.

Summits include a pre-Summit Student Day where students from the UK, the US, and China present their ideas and business plans for addressing the NAE Grand Challenges.  Winning teams receive monetary prizes and are recognized during a special session of the GGCS.

The 3rd Global Grand Challenges Summit was held July 18-20, 2017 in Washington, DC.
