Biography

 

William Hunter is Director of the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology and Professor of Chemistry and Curriculum and Instruction at Illinois State University. Dr. Hunter started his career in education as a chemistry, mathematics, and computer science teacher in England and Canada. He then moved to Purdue University where he earned a PhD in Chemistry Education with Dr. George Bodner in 1998.  Since joining the faculty at Illinois State University, Dr. Hunter has worked with in-service and pre-service chemistry teachers for fifteen years and mentored students at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate level on research projects. His experience in building partnerships between schools and universities has been supported by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Illinois Board of Higher Education, and the Illinois State Board of Education. This work has led to over 150 publications and presentations in the science education community.
