Biography

Beth A. Myers is Director of Analytics, Assessment and Accreditation for the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. She has created research-based, data-supported policy suggestions to broaden participation in engineering education.

Dr. Myers was the keynote speaker for a 2016 collaboration workshop, “To Diversity and Beyond,” for engineering programs in Australia and New Zealand to share knowledge about gender equity educational programs and recruitment initiatives aimed at increasing the participation of women in engineering studies.

At the University of Colorado she has served as Director of Access and Recruiting for CEAS, done program evaluation and assessment for the Engineering GoldShirt Program, and served on the team that created novel diversifying programs (BOLD and GoldShirt), policies, and practices for CEAS. These efforts have dramatically increased the representation of women and underrepresented minority students pursuing engineering at the institution. She was also a key member of the team that created the innovative Engineering Plus degree, which allows a more flexible path that may improve engineering retention and creates a pathway to K-12 teacher licensure in addition to a design-focused undergraduate engineering degree.

Dr. Myers’ goal is to facilitate the continuous improvement of the educational experiences of students, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, and guide policy and practice changes that ensure equity in higher education. Her interests are in quantitative and qualitative research and analytics related to equity policies in education.

She holds a BA in biochemistry, ME in engineering management, and PhD in civil engineering, all from the University of Colorado Boulder.
