Biography

Ruth David is retired but remains active as an independent consultant while also serving as Secretary/Treasurer for the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences. She recently served a four-year term (2015-2019) as Foreign Secretary of the NAE, assuming the position after retiring from Analytic Services Inc. where she had served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1998.  She was the Deputy Director for Science and Technology at the Central Intelligence Agency from 1995 to 1998.  Prior to that she served in a variety of staff and leadership positions at the Sandia National Laboratories, where she began her professional career in 1975.   She currently serves on the Defense Science Board, is a Member of the Draper Corporation, and serves on an advisory board for the Systems Engineering Research Center, a DoD-sponsored UARC.  She previously has served on a variety of governmental and university advisory boards, including a six-year term on the National Science Board. She was elected into the National Academy of Engineering in 2002 and is a National Associate of the National Research Council.  Her technical experience includes data acquisition system design, system integration, and adaptive signal processing.  Dr. David earned her BS at Wichita State University, and her MS and PhD at Stanford University, all in electrical engineering.
