We have been monitoring the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19. After considerable thought and input from the NAE Council and staff, we have decided to postpone the National Meeting from February 10 until May 5, 2022. This decision was based on health data from Orange County California, which registers a high community transmission rate according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and concerns related to the safety and well-being of NAE members and staff. Our monitoring of the situation is ongoing, and we will make necessary adjustments as the pandemic evolves.
We have lined up a stellar program for the National Meeting, including a celebration of EngineerGirl and a keynote lecture from NAE member Gwynne Shotwell, Chief Operating Officer of SpaceX. We will also highlight the Gilbreth Lectures and invite students from local high schools. We firmly believe that holding the meetings in-person will allow for robust discussions and fruitful, personal interactions that will enhance the work of the NAE.
Therefore, we are rescheduling all three events associated with the National Meeting -- the NAE Reception and Dinner, the Tax and Financial Planning Seminar, and the general NAE National Meeting in honor of Lillian Gilbreth and Excellence in Engineering. Please save the dates of May 4-5, 2022, in Irvine, CA. More details will follow.
