The Planning Committee on the Indoor Exposure to Fine Particulate Matter and Practical Mitigation Approaches Workshop is conducting a three-webinar series on the state-of the-science on exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) indoors, its health impacts, and engineering approaches and interventions to reduce exposure risks, including practical mitigation solutions in residential settings. The webinars will take place on consecutive Wednesdays in April: the 14th, 21st, and 28.

The April 14 webinar—Sources of Indoor Fine Particulate Matter—features presentations from leading indoor environment experts on

  • outdoor-to-indoor transport mechanisms and particle penetration,
  • outdoor PM sources and the chemical transformations that take place when they interact with the indoor environment,
  • PM emissions from cooking,
  • secondary aerosol formation of fine particulate matter,
  • the effect of humidity on indoor PM levels, and
  • the influence of various sources on the characterization of exposure and evaluation of health effects

The speakers will also participate in roundtable discussions and address questions posed by online participants.
