Dr. OiYan Poon (she/her/hers) is an Associate Professor affiliate in the School of Education at Colorado State University. Her research interests include Asian Americans in education, affirmative action, and the racial politics of college access and admissions policies. Prior to her role at Spencer, her research on admissions practices received grant funding from the Joyce Foundation and the Spencer Foundation. Dr. Poon is a co-lead author on the amicus briefs submitted on behalf of 678 social scientists to defend race-conscious admissions policies in SFFA v. Harvard. She has also served as an undergraduate admissions reviewer at University of California–Davis and a scholarship application reviewer for the Gates Millennium Scholars Program.
