Individuals who identify as sexual and gender diverse (i.e., LGBTQI+) have different experiences across their life course than their cisgender and heterosexual counterparts. The increase in the prevalence and visibility of sexual and gender diverse populations illuminates the need for greater understanding of the ways their well-being is affected by current laws, systems, and programs.
This webinar discussed the research-based policy implications outlined in the Academies’ 2020 report Understanding the Well-Being of LGBTQI+ Populations, current LGBTQI+ policy considerations at the federal level, such as the Equality Act and section 1557, and recent changes to and topics of interest in state and local level policies.
