We all use basic engineering principles in everyday life, claims Duke University's Henry Petroski.  But new Redskins coach Joe Gibbs is a master...even if his degree is in Phys. Ed.   Designing creative football strategies within the rules of the game is similar to designing engineering projects within the laws of nature, says Petroski.  Gibbs admits that his new project also involves a steep learning curve to effectively use the technologies now available in professional football.  But it wouldn't be a long shot to bet on Gibbs creating some new innovations of his own.  It will be fascinating to watch.  And, for kids, perhaps a fun introduction to what engineering's all about.  With the National Academy of Engineering, Randy Atkins, WTOP Radio.
