How would you like to look at images of an office entryway all day?  It's no wonder the stereotypical guard falls asleep.  Some D.C. area cameras are now automatically monitored using software engineered to distinguish dog-walker from terrorist.  It alerts a guard if there's a potential threat.  Alan Lipton, Chief Technical Officer of Reston-based ObjectVideo, says this way hundreds of cameras can do screening---without human eyes.  Their system can be customized to send alarms for a variety of suspicious activities like lingering too long, leaving a package, or parking a car in a restricted space.  With the National Academy of Engineering, Randy Atkins, WTOP Radio.
