2022 NAE National Meeting
Honoring Lillian Gilbreth and Excellence in Engineering
May 4-5, 2022
Irvine, CA

The 2022 NAE National Meeting promises to be a stellar event, including a 20th Anniversary celebration of EngineerGirl, a keynote lecture from NAE member and SpaceX Chief Operating Officer Gwynne Shotwell, Gilbreth Lectures, and more.

**NAE 2022 National Meeting Highlights and Schedule of Events **

The 2022 NAE National Meeting honors Lillian Gilbreth and Excellence in Engineering. Gilbreth’s pioneering work combined psychology with the study of scientific management and engineering. She is touted as one of the first female engineers to earn a Ph.D. and, upon being named professor of management at Purdue's School of Mechanical Engineering, the country's first female engineering professor.

The Gilbreth Lectures to be featured at the 2022 NAE National Meeting include four presenters who are alumni of the NAE Frontiers of Engineering Symposia and recipients of the Gilbreth Lectureships. The Gilbreth Lectures recognize outstanding young engineers. Established in 2001 by the NAE Council, the Gilbreth Lectures are made possible through the generous support of the Armstrong Endowment for Young Engineers.

The 2022 NAE National Meeting also celebrates the 20th Anniversary of NAE’s premier program, EngineerGirl. This dynamic program is designed for girls in elementary through high school and offers information about various engineering fields, careers, and resources in engineering.

NAE is again working with Cabrillo High School in Long Beach, Samueli Academy in Santa Ana, and University of California, Irvine (UCI) to identify high school students as well as recent UCI entrants who are interested in careers in engineering or science. Approximately 200 students are expected to attend the program.

The 2022 NAE National Meeting in Honor of Lillian Gilbreth and Excellence in Engineering promises to be a very stimulating symposium.

Frontiers of Engineering symposia bring together emerging engineering leaders from industry, academe, and government labs to discuss pioneering technical work and leading-edge research.

NAE COVID-19 Policy

To prevent infection and spread of the COVID-19 virus, and as an integral measure toward the safety and health of everyone in our buildings, the National Academies require all individuals who enter our facilities or attend our events be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and wear masks when in public areas of the buildings. The National Academies’ leadership is closely monitoring the evolving situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and we are basing our approach to National Academies’ business on the current scientific evidence on COVID-19 and the best public health advice. Our priority is the safety of our staff and our larger community of volunteers, sponsors, and members.
