Randy Atkins: Just drop in a few coins, choose a destination on a touch screen, and a small “personal rapid transit” vehicle could whisk your family directly there along a dedicated guideway with pull-offs at key locations.

Stan Young: You don’t own them and you don’t have to care for them, and they just drop you off and go re-circulate in the system and serve other people.

Randy Atkins: Stan Young, a University of Maryland engineer, says one system already exists – in Morgantown, West Virginia – but he says technological advances may now make it cost-effective and efficient enough for widespread use, conserving city space…..
