Take a lesson from highly successful Bridgeway Funds founder John Montgomery.  He has an MBA from Harvard and a Masters in civil engineering from MIT—and says his engineering experiences have proven the most valuable for his investing.  While other mutual fund managers are evaluating company business plans, management teams, and competitors, Montgomery sticks to the numbers.  He plugs historical statistics on companies into engineering computer models he's customized for picking stocks.  Montgomery acts on data, saying emotion is the downfall of many investors.  He advises you to create a diversified investing plan and write it down.  Then stick to it—especially when it's painful.  Montgomery says investing, like engineering, requires structure and discipline.  With the National Academy of Engineering, Randy Atkins, WTOP Radio.
