Randy Atkins: A new technology monitors sporting events and alerts you when they get exciting. Just plug in some information like your zip code, T-V provider, and sports of interest at the website “Are You Watching This?!”-dot-com, download the free app on your mobile device, and let Mark Phillip’s computer program “weigh” various elements of a good game.
Mark Phillip: We figure out what’s going on in the game and as it gets more exciting we weight it more and more until it’s time to tell you to run to the couch.
Randy Atkins: Users are also encouraged to provide live input, which is calculated in.
Mark Phillip: If you just rely on computers and algorithms, you’re not going to get everything. And if you rely purely on users, it’s just going to be Yankees and Cowboys rating high every week. So I think it’s really important to blend the two.
