Brad Christensen is the coordinator for the Integrated Mathematics, Science, and Technology program at the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CeMaST), housed at Illinois State University (ISU). Dr. Christensen started his career in education as the industrial arts/industrial technology teacher for a very small school in rural Nebraska. He then taught industrial technology/technology education at the Maple Valley Community School in Illinois. While at ISU, Dr. Christensen worked first as a graduate assistant then as a full-time curriculum specialist at CeMaST. Upon graduation in 2001, he accepted a faculty position at Berea College in Berea, KY where he taught technology education courses. In addition to his numerous classroom projects, Dr. Christensen was instrumental in the formation of the SQuIRLs (Society of Quantitative and Inquiry Reasoning Learners), which promoted quantitative critical thinking across campus, and he chaired a state-level committee that developed the Program of Studies for Engineering and Technology Education for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. His research interests include instructional design, particularly involving interdisciplinary curriculum models and pre-engineering courses. He also enjoys designing and building projects, including two houses, several boats, a human/electric hybrid vehicle, plywood bicycles, several playhouses, and other unique and unusual devices. In his role at CeMaST, Dr. Christensen focuses primarily on the promotion and implementation of the IMaST program to schools throughout Illinois and beyond. Dr. Christensen earned his MA. in curriculum and instruction at the University of Nebraska at Kearney and his Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Illinois State University.
