Christopher Swan, an associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), also serves as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Curriculum Development in the School of Engineering. Dr. Swan has additional appointments in the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service and the Center for Engineering Education and Outreach.
Previously, he served as chair of Tufts CEE department (from 2002-2007). Involved with ASEE since 2001, he currently serves as program chair for the Community Engagement in Engineering Education constituent committee. Dr. Swan’s current research interests in engineering education focus on project-based learning and service-based pedagogies. In addition, Dr. Swan has interests in the efficacy of waste reuse, with a focus on an innovative synthetic aggregate produced from commingled coal fly ash and waste plastics.
