The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have recently established a new Climate Communications Initiative (CCI). As described in the press release, the initiative will enable us to advise the nation on this topic in more nimble and responsive ways, pulling from the deep and diverse work of the Academies’ seven programmatic divisions and three academies.
After an extensive nomination process, an expert advisory committee has been appointed to guide the initiative and help develop a strategic plan for it. All Academy members, as major stakeholders in the outcome of this initiative, are being asked to help in guiding the advisory committee’s work.
To provide your thoughts to the CCI Advisory Committee on the most important national needs related to climate communications and how the NAE might best contribute, please consider and respond to the questions posed here: http://nas-sites.org/americasclimatechoices/cci-volunteer-input/ by Friday, February 16. Comments on any or all of the questions will be considered by the advisory committee members before their meeting in early March. Nonmember colleagues are invited to provide input on the CCI’s public comment page.
If you have any additional thoughts or questions, please contact Amanda Purcell, the National Academies staff lead for the Climate Communications Initiative, at APurcell@nas.edu.
