Request for NAE member input on Academies’ Climate Communication Initiative

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have recently established a new Climate Communications Initiative (CCI). As described in the press release, the initiative will enable us to advise the nation on this topic in more nimble and responsive ways, pulling from the deep and diverse work of the Academies’ seven programmatic divisions and three academies.

After an extensive nomination process, an expert advisory committee has been appointed to guide the initiative and help develop a strategic plan for it. All Academy members, as major stakeholders in the outcome of this initiative, are being asked to help in guiding the advisory committee’s work.

The member comment period has closed but comments can be made throught the public comment page.

If you have any additional thoughts or questions, please contact Amanda Purcell, the National Academies staff lead for the Climate Communications Initiative, at
